WSU members may use EndNote Basic (formerly EndNote Web) to collect, organize, and format references. EndNote simplifies the process of formatting references in various citation styles. EndNote Basic is free but is limited compared to the full software program.

Many databases, including all those hosted by EBSCO and Web of Science, offer direct export of references into EndNote, Basic and purchased. Other databases require exporting or saving references in a file, and then importing the file into EndNote.
